Baking and flowers and baking......

Our Philoptokos chapter bakes koulouria, and dyes eggs for sale before Pascha.  Last Saturday we baked 720 (or so) koulouria ~ we sell those by the dozen.  Tsoureki is on Monday, with the exception of the 15 small loaves I baked for the shut ins.  Egg dyeing is on 4/17, and our priest hands out the red eggs on Saturday.....or is it Sunday?  It's all a whirlwind.

We have so many icons that need decorating with flowers.  There are 3 of us, and each one of us is doing this at least once a week.  Our main source for flowers is Trader Joe's.  Sometimes the grocery store.  So, we have to buy the flowers 2-3 days before, then I go down to the church hall to do the decorating.

Don't ask me why I volunteer for all of this ~ most of me loves it, some of me wants to take a nap......

In a bit over 3 weeks, I will take off for Greece!  I'm ready, but of course I haven't packed yet.  I am after all, a pro-crastinator.

I dropped by the office to take them 2 loaves of the bread, and from everything I heard, it's still nuts.  Soooo, when I wake up in the morning, I will smile, stretch, and hang out in bed for a few more minutes 😊

Yeah, I can be mean....

Have a great rest of the week!

Love, 365

  1. This must be your busiest time of year. How on earth do you manage it all? Have I missed your trip or is that still ahead?

    1. Actually, beginning in July we start baking twice a week to prepare for the Greek Festival ~ this year will be our 50th year, so we're probably going all out! But Pascha is for sure just so packed with services and things I need to do, so a bit more frantic.
The trip starts 4/27, so not long now!

Did you find my comment on Facebook. I'd love to meet you. Give me the dates again. I'll be away for a while with my brother but hopefully we can find a day

  3. I keep checking and can't find anything on FB. I hope we can find a day too!
When I made the small tsoureki, I had mostly bread flour and boy was it a lot of rolling to get the parts of the braid to stay as long as I wanted. My apple watch asked if I was on the elliptical machine, haha.

The Life List........

Lol, this seems to be ingrained in my genetics.  My younger son is the same, poor thing. Saying no should take less effort than saying yes...
