The good, the bad and the wonderful.....now for the wonderful..

I know it doesn't look white like snow, but it is....

Look closely ~ those sun shades/picnic tables are the same as they were in the 1950s when Romeo's family first visited...These were designed by Lyle Bennett, who also designed the visitors center.

Sioux with her goggles on.....she did ok but we did have to adjust them constantly...

Oh, Romeo, my Romeo......💞

Yeah, that last one...oh, how I dislike having my picture taken.

Although we arrived in Ruidoso on Sunday, we took off for White Sands on Monday morning.  The weather was perfect, and we hiked bare foot!  Not many places you can do that.  The people had a lot more fun than the dog.  She didn't really like all that sand, but you'd have to ask her to know why!

I will post more photos and stories this weekend.
Love, 365

  1. That sand is amazing. What a place to hike. Must have been wonderful to feel the sand between your toes . Wasnt it tough going though, hiking through sand ? I can see why you all needed sunglasses.

    1. It was fun to hike barefoot! There were times when you felt you weren't going anywhere, just moving the sand around, haha...some of the dunes were packed hard, and other parts were soft. It is rather blinding that white sand, so sunglasses and sunscreen were a necessity!

    1. Ruidoso is fun ~ we've been visiting for over 20 years. Lots of great shopping too :-)

  3. The sand is gorgeous. It's nice that your dog hates it. Mine goes in the water and then rolls on her back in the sand and rolls around. That's fun to get out. :-)

    1. Lol, there isn't any water, so that's not an issue! I don't know why she seemed so eager to leave! We stuck to the dunes ~ there are rattlesnake warnings all over the park, but they don't like the dunes. The sand was cool and felt even cooler a few inches down.

  4. You are right that is so like snow. Maybe Sioux associated sand with doggles. I can't imagine getting any dog we've owned to agree to wear them. That looks like a must visit place.

    1. It's an amazingly beautiful place situated in a rather ugly part of New Mexico. We did work on getting her used to wearing the goggles.. Romeo thinks there wasn't anything interesting to sniff and she was bored :D

  5. Looks lovely. I am glad you and Romeo had a good time. My condolences to Sioux. Frizz did not enjoy her time at the sand dunes we visit here in Idaho.

    1. We still don't quite get why she didn't like it ~ maybe she got sand in her nose trying to sniff something, lol.

Thanksgiving tales, working again, trip to Greece!...woo hoo

Romeo and I drove to Texas for Thanksgiving.  The drive sucked, but 14 hours later, we were there!  We did go to the wrong house the first...
